US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is back at work with a full schedule, a week after being released from hospital. She said on Wednesday she was "thrilled" for the chance to resolve unfinished business before handing the keys to Senator John Kerry, who was nominated by President Obama to succeed her.

Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, said, "I am thrilled to be back and I am also incredibly grateful to this fabulous team that I have here at the State Department, who never missed a beat for the time that I was away. And we are focused on continuing our work, finishing up everything that we can and helping Senator Kerry with his transition."

It was her first public statement after a month away, during which she was hospitalized for suffering a blood clot near the brain. Clinton has not divulged many details on her plans following her departure from the State Department sometime later this month or in early February. It has been widely speculated that she may consider running for the presidency in 2016. Whatever her plan, Clinton cautioned a reporter not to call it a "retirement."
