While much of European continues to languish in the debt crisis, Austria is enjoying an economic boost thanks to increased tourism numbers. The country has seen record visitor flow in the first 11 months of 2012.
120 million tourists visited Austria from January to November last year. This is a 3.5 percent jump versus the previous year, and compared to a merely growing economy, this number says it all about the effect of government support for tourism.

This comes as many countries in Europe have cut their budgets in sectors such as tourism. The Austrian government, on the contrary, has been strongly promoting what they know best -- culture, and especially music. Austrian productions are not only expanding within the borders of the continent, but also beyond in new markets such as China or Brazil. And the effect seems to be paying off.
In November alone, the country saw tourists pass the 4 million mark for the first time, reaching 4.15 million people. And what's more: The country is playing music cards at almost all seasonal events, with ski resorts holding orchestra concerts to attract even more tourists.
