Indian defence scientists have successfully test-fired a medium-range nuclear capable ballistic missile from an underwater platform in the Bay of Bengal. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the B05 missile has a strike range of around 1500 kilometres.
The organisation said the launch had met all parameters and was successful. The Press Trust of India news agency reported that the missile would soon be ready for deployment on platforms, including a nuclear submarine.
Indian defence experts said the test would complete the country’s nuclear triad, with the capability to launch missiles from land, air and below sea.
