South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorius has appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate's Court to hear judgement on his bail application. This was the second time that Pistorius appeared in court since he was arrested last Thursday for allegedly shooting model and girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his Pretoria home.

Pistorius has applied for bail, but police said they would oppose his application. Pistorius reportedly told police that he shot Steemkamp, mistaking her for a burglar. Police have stressed that Steemkamp, who was buried on Tuesday, was killed by more than one gun shot.

Known as "Blade Runner", Pistorius gained fame for being the first double amputee to run at the Olympics. He reached the semi-finals in the 400 meter event in London last year.
