Let's take a look at the commercial impact of the H7N9 flu. The latest case was confirmed late on Sunday, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 21 in China. The spread of the flu and fears of a pandemic has wrecked havoc across many industries in China.

On Sunday, authorities in Shanghai and Nanjing shut down live poultry markets. Poultry sales in other cities have also decreased dramatically. Many restaurants have temporarily stopped selling chicken dishes. At some fast food outlets such as KFC and Mcdonald's, there has been a significant decrease in orders for menu items containing chicken.

The tourism industry is also taking a hit. As Shanghai is currently the city with the most H7N9 cases confirmed, many tourists have cancelled their plans to visit the city and its surrounding areas.

Insiders say airlines are also likely to be impacted, with shares of a number of Chinese airlines seeing significant declines last week and again today.
