186 people are now known to have died in the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that hit southwest China's Sichuan Province on Saturday. The latest figures come from China's Earthquake Administration. 21 people are still officially reported as missing.
More than 11,000 people have been injured, with the total number of affected people standing at 1.5 million. Yaan city in west Sichuan has reported 164 deaths, with more than a hundred occurring in Lushan County. 8 people died in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province. There are also reports of deaths in other cities.
Rescuers say they've now reached all parts of Lushan county, and that the remote county of Baoxing has become the new focus of the rescue efforts. Getting into Baoxing is proving difficult due to the landslides that have blocked the roads into the county.
According to China Earthquake Networks Center, the quake hit Lushan County of Yaan city at just after 8am on Saturday, Beijing time. As of 0600 GMT, or 2pm Sunday Beijing time, 1445 aftershocks had occurred. 72 of them were 3 or above on the Ritcher scale.
