But what did the music industry lose on that day four years ago? CCTV Hollywood reporter, Kristie Hang, looks back now at the impact of his death, and speaks to music professionals about the void left in the music world.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Michael Jackson has died. According to the LA Times, Michael Jackson has been pronounced dead. We lost one of the greatest pop stars that the world will ever know. NBC news has confirmed, pop super-star Michael Jackson is dead at the age of fifty.

It was the announcement heard around the globe; the world's most popular entertainer had died on June 25th, 2009.

The world was shocked to hear that Michael Jackson had died. Fans still remember where they were when they heard about the pop-singers death.

"I was at home watching it on the TV. I actually cried. I really don't cry but that really touched my heart because that's somebody who's been with me since I was a kid," a fan said.

"I was actually listening to one of his albums when a friend told me on the phone that he just died and I thought he was kidding at first but then I heard the news and it kind of tore me up," another fan said.

Perhaps the best singer and dancer of his generation, Michael Jackson created his own iconography: the single shiny glove, the Moonwalk, the signature red jacket and the Neverland Ranch.The whole world of music lamented the loss of the King of Pop.
