As July comes, a heat wave has arrived in many cities across China. While the citizens are complaining of hot days, animals in the zoo also need to find ways of cooling down.

As it gets hotter, fewer visitors can be found in Shanghai's Binhai Park. The animals in the park are also being hit by the weather, and many are hiding under the shade of trees.

Mr. Chen, Binhai Park, Shanghai, said, "The animals have lost their appetite because of the heat. Every year, during this time, we cool down cucumbers and other vegetables in the fridge to give to them as cold dishes."

Meanwhile, at the Ganzhou Forest Park of southeast China's Jiangxi Province, the animals have found their own way in the hot weather. Some are eating watermelons. Some only stay in rooms with air conditioning. And, some enjoy their own swimming pools.

"The bears are so hairy and look as if they are wearing thick coats. I can imagine how hot they feel now."

Veterinarians also say, the immune and digestive systems of animals are more fragile during high temperatures so they need extra care. They also advice visitors not to throw random food at the animals.
