A woman jumped off a subway platform, onto the tracks at Guomao Station, located on Beijing Subway Line 1, during Thursday afternoon rush hour.
“The train was coming and when it was about 2 to 3 meters far from her, she jumped off the platform,” a passenger recalled. “The train had not fully stopped yet when she jumped. Three carriages were running over that woman”.

An amateur video shows two railway staff members racing toward the spot from which she had jumped off. They were yelling at her to stop moving and alerted her about the danger of high-tension electricity.
The woman did not listen to the staff. “It’s impossible. It’s impossible,” she shouted while she was climbing back onto the platform. The subway police took her away.
A subway worker confirmed the incident. Later, a spokesman of Beijing Subway said that the company would install platform screen doors for Subway Line 1 as fast as they could.
