High temperatures and an unending heat wave since June, has left residents in Chongqing municipality, searching for a way to cool down.

Passengers stand under water mist while waiting for buses at the Xinpaifangxi bus station in Chongqing Municipality, July 9, 2013. The bus station turned on its mist-spraying system in order to cool passengers off as the temperature in the city has reached to 37 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. [Xinhua]

The local government has come up with a smart way to help residents beat the heat, even if it's just for a short time, while they're waiting for the bus.

The city's bus stops have been equipped with machines that spray a cool mist every 30 seconds, bringing nearby temperatures down by 5 to 7 degree Celsius. Waiting for the bus has never been so cool.
