WikiLeaks says NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has not yet formally accepted an asylum offer from Venezuela. On its Twitter feed, the organization says that states involved "will make the announcement if and when the appropriate time comes".
Earlier, senior Russian lawmaker Alexei Pushkov tweeted that Snowden had accepted Venezuela's offer of asylum, then deleted the post a few minutes later.
Snowden arrived at a Moscow airport on June 23rd and has been holed up in the airport's transit zone since his U.S. passport was revoked by Washington.
According to a WikiLeaks report, he has applied for political asylum with 21 countries. In recent days, Bolivia and Nicaragua have also come forward to offer Snowden asylum.
