Since its debut in 2010, AMC's "The Walking Dead" has made history, creating the biggest fan base all over the world, including China. Forget all those blood-sucking vampires, zombies have clearly become the new monster of choice. Our Hollywood reporter talks to the cast and creator of "The Walking Dead" about the upcoming season.

'The Walking Dead' season 4 ready to premiere in fall.

The show's plot is pretty simple. Centered in rural Georgia, main characters are all trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies. The small band of survivors is lead by Sheriff Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln.

"One of the great attractions of the role is that he begins as a small time, very ordinary man - cop," Lincoln said of his character. "Through this tragedy, this catastrophe, every moment in this new world changes him. So, the evolution between the man that you first saw in the first episode and where we're at now is extraordinary."

With many twists and turns, the show is in production for the next season. Fans are very eager to know how this protagonist moves on without his wife Lori.

"In season four you see him in a completely new place. It's a man trying to suppress the brutality of the world and renounce leadership somewhat..." said Lincoln.

Another main character viewers were finally introduced to in season 3 was "The Governor", the charming, smooth-talking villain of the show played by British actor David Morrissey.

"... He (Governor) had good morals and he felt the good about the human race. But now this terrible crisis has put him in a survival mode that's pretty destructive and he's fighting those destructive elements inside of himself..." Morrissey said.

But for all the complexities of their characters, it's interesting that the actors find a little bit of themselves in the parts they play. Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn Rhee, said, "I love my character. I love Glenn. He's kind of me when I was younger and to live that through is really fun; to kind of put him through a different perspective is really fun especially in a zombie apocalypse. He's a resilient dude so hopefully he stays a while."

If the show has proven anything, it's that even the show's main characters are not immune to getting killed off. Can we assume that no one is safe in season four? That's a safe assumption, said the show's creator Robert Kirman.

"Pretty much every episode that comes up every character's on the table, and some people get pardoned and live another episode but nobody's safe," Executive Producer David Alpert said.

"The Walking Dead" is such a success and internationally well received. We ask some fans what they think about the show:

"I like the realism in it. They made something that's in movies on television."

"Unpredictable so you don't really know what's coming."

"Zombies!"

After speaking to all of the cast and some of the fans we can't wait to see what happens in season four of "The Walking Dead".
