In South Korea, the Busan International Film Festival is in full swing for the 18th consecutive year. Hong Kong actor Aaron Kwok has opened this year’s event, together with South Korean actress Kang Soo-yeon.
The world’s fifth busiest seaport city bustles with life, as hundreds of film lovers crowd around the Busan Cinema Centre on the festival’s opening night.
And finally the long-awaited moment arrives, and the stars stride the red carpet.
Hong Kong actor Aaron Kwok stepped in with his co-host South Korean actress Kang Soo-yeon. The 48-year-old actor is the second foreigner to open the Busan International Film Festival after Tang Wei.
The organizers say they have plans to invite an actor or actress of a different Asian nationality to co-moderate the curtain raiser event next year, as Busan continues to focus on highlighting and developing Asian films.
