FIFA bosses have been reassuring football fans, who are planning to go to next summer's tournament in Brazil, that security will be up to scratch. The reassurances come as the five-day Soccerex Global Convention in Rio Di Janeiro has been cancelled for disputed claims of civil unrest.

These are the images of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil FIFA wants the world to see. But increasingly concerns have been raised over the levels of civil unrest in the country. FIFA bosses in London to reporting on preparations said fans were confident of a trouble free World Cup.

"We had six million requests for tickets, so you're saying the world is afraid of whatever. But then you have to stop travelling around the world on a normal basis. That’s my answer to you," Thierry Weil, FIFA Marketing Manager, says.

In the summer, protestors clashed with police at the Confederation Cup final between Brazil and Spain. It was according to FIFA an example of successful of police tactics.

"That's the case. We have no problems with that at all, with any kind of people there during the Confederations Cup it's a good example that these integrated actions worked well and will work well because we will be prepared," Richardo Trade, Member of World Cup Organizing Committee, says.

While hoping for a peaceful World Cup, football legend Ronaldo said he sympathizes with the demands of the protestors in Brazil.

"Brazil is going through a special moment. It is a moment of change and people are really tired, they are demanding change in our country," he says.

However, the cancellation of the Soccerex Global Convention in Rio has raised fears of disruption at the World Cup. Although the city government strongly denies that civil unrest was the cause, citing instead a funding dispute with the British based Soccerex organisation.

The clock is ticking on Brazil and the World Cup 2014. The excitement and the tickets sales both rising, as are indeed concerns over security.
