"It’s a very good opportunity for us to perform here and very good for us to see some of the other countries performing here," said a teacher from Bharathaa Arts.
In addition to the cornucopia display of song and dance from various nations, audiences also got a taste of the rich ethnic culture that is indigenous to Yunnan.
And indoor and outdoor theatrical performances aside, the festival will also be hosting the first Asian Head Librarians' Forum and an Asian Cultural forum as well as an array of art exhibitions, thus creating a more holistic cultural discussion.
"I'm really excited about this festival, and I look forward to experiencing many new things from the various events at this festival," said Pu Yanhui, a student from Yunnan Vocational College of Arts.
Since it was first held in Beijing in 1998, the biennial Asia ArtFestival has been held at various major cities throughout China. Its goal is to not only facilitate regional and international cultural exchange but also to bring art closer to the people. This year’s festival will last until November 27th.
