China have eight points from five matches in Asian Cup qualification so far. With the final match against Iraq, determining if they’ll reach the finals in Australia in 2015. So let's take a look at how they got there.

China began the group stage in February with a match against Saudi Arabia. Even though Zhao Xuri scored for China, the Saudis controlled the match and won it 2-1 at home. It means China haven’t beaten Saudi Arabia for 16 years.

One month later, China welcomed Iraq at home, hoping to grab their first victory of the campaign. The team was then led by Spaniard Jose Antonio Camacho. With the goalless score after 90 minutes, Yu Dabao’s goal in stoppage time gave the hosts three points.

Earlier this month, China made trip to Indonesia for their third match of the group stage. After a pretty horrendous 5-1 defeat to Thailand, Fu Bo took over the national team from Camacho. But Wu Xi’s goal was not enough to hand the side a win in Jakarta, and Indonesia came back to grab their only point of the group stage so far.

And China met Indonesia in the reverse leg four days ago in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. Only three points could keep China ahead of third placed Iraq. Wu Lei scoring the only goal of the match. With the three points, China remain in second place, and extend their lead to four points before drawing with Saudi Arabia at home on Tuesday.
