In a strange turn of events, American music legend Bob Dylan is being investigated in France for allegations of inciting racial hatred. A Croatian community organization alleges that he made racial comments to Rolling Stone magazine last year.
In the interview published in the magazine's September 27, 2012 edition, the singer said racism was holding America back. Complainants, however, state that the singer's comments had a negative implication for the people of Croatia.
The formal investigation follows a legal complaint from the CRICCF, an organization based in France, alleging that the comments in the French version of the magazine violate racial hatred laws.
In France, racism complaints automatically trigger formal investigations, regardless of the merits of the case.
