Chinese football team Guangzhou Evergrande have beaten Al Ahly of Egypt 2-nil to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco. The victory means Guangzhou, coached by Italian World Cup winner Marcello Lippi, will move on to the semi-finals where they will face European champions Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

In a tense first half, neither side came close to scoring. But shortly after the break Guangzhou’s Brazilian striker Elkeson gave his team the lead. And then in the 67th minute, star midfielder Dario Conca wrapped things up for the Asian champions, racing away to score the decisive second. The Argentine, who was named man of the match, will leave Guangzhou to return to Brazil’s Fluminense at the end of the tournament.
