South Korea's Defense Ministry says the country's annual joint military drills with the United States will be conducted as scheduled despite demands from the DPRK to cancel them.

"The Key Resolve and the Foal Eagle drills will take place as planned. If the DPRK uses our military's regular training in response to emergency as a pretext for military provocation, our military will respond ruthlessly and firmly," said Kim Min-Seok, spokesperson of S. Korean Defense Ministry.
