US whistle-blower Edward Snowden says the NSA is involved in industrial espionage. He made the claims in a new interview with German media aired on Sunday.
Snowden said if German engineering company Siemens had information that would benefit the US, but had nothing to do with national security needs, the US spy agency would still use it. Snowden didn’t explain exactly what the NSA would do with such information. He said he didn’t want to reveal the details before journalists did.
Snowden also said he was no longer in possession of any NSA documents. He claims he has passed them all on to journalists and he no longer has any influence on the release of the files.
Snowden faces felony charges in the US after revealing the NSA’s mass surveillance program. He is living under temporary asylum in Russia.
