Virtual reality and a pack of greyhounds were the talk of the town on the event's first day. Mulberry staged a photocall instead of a catwalk show to unveil it's new collection of bags. And British high-street store Topshop staged a virtual event.

Mulberry launches Cara Delevingne's range of handbags. Luxury hotel Claridges hosted the photocall which found Cara, along with some greyhounds and a couple of men, in a woodland scene. The lights came up to reveal Cara sitting on a swing. As she got up and walked around, one of the Mulberry bags was revealed on her back. The full collection of bags was brought to her one by one, and she placed them all on the swing. Bags in three sizes and three different finishes make up the made-in-England Cara Delevingne Collection.

Topshop on the other hand brought a world's first in telepresence and virtual reality to this week's London Fashion Week. The Topshop Unique show was live-streamed from the Tate Modern's Turbine Hall in a telepresence experience, where shoppers at the brand's flagship Oxford Circus store were transported straight to the catwalk.

Participants wore specially commissioned head-sets to enter the 360 degree virtual world which incorporated live feeds from the catwalk show, backstage and VIP arrivals.

Topshop also announced that for the first time fashion fans without a ticket to the show were able to go along to the Tate Modern and watch the event from a mezzanine level.
