Chinese designer Uma Wang has released her latest ready-to-wear collection at Milan Fashion Week. Let’s head to Italy to check out how China’s design talent is faring up on Milan’s catwalks.
The new collection from Uma Wang evoked strong female images: courageous and firm. East and West collided with ultra-lightweight garments; Chinese paper processed and transformed into fabric.
"My creations have always been based on fabrics. We made a major breakthrough with fabric innovation this year. Another change is that I often used to use plain colours like black, grey and white, but this time I’ve gone for a variety of colours, stripes, patterns and jacquard, to create an atmosphere of blending East and West." Wang said.
This is the second time Wang has showcased her own collection in Milan’s official calendar- supported by the Shanghai Fashion Designer Association. The Association has initiated a project named "Design by Shanghai" to promote Chinese emerging designers in major international fashion events.
After a successful debut at London Fashion Week in February 2013, the project continues to draw attention from international media and fashion celebrities to a fresh, new Chinese design concept.
