After interpreting countless roles in films and TV, and recovering from a shooting accident, Chinese actor Liao Fan has re-emerged in a romantic film noir, proving to the world that persistance does indeed pay off.
It was the perfect birthday gift. Liao Fan received the Silver Bear for best actor on the first day of Spring in China, which was also Valentine's Day and, as it happens, his 40th birthday.
The veteran actor has interpreted more than 50 different characters and played in many Chinese blockbusters, such as Jackie Chen's "CZ12", "Love is not Blind" and "If You're not the One II", but remained under the public radar until now.
Julian Waghann catches up with him, as well as the rest of the cast, ahead of the film's release in China.
Liao Fan receives Silver Bear award for best actor at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival. |
