The Dallas Mavericks were hosting the Brooklyn Nets. Both teams needing a win to help their playoff positioning.

The Nets are battling Chicago for the fourth seed in the East, while Dallas are in a dogfight with Memphis and Phoenix for the last two post-season berths out West.

Nets coach Jason Kidd celebrating his 41st birthday in Dallas. He helped the Mavs win the 2011 NBA title. And early on it was his old team with the upperhand. Montae Ellis finishes with the spectacular up and under. Big "D" up 8. And Ellis would continue to be his acrobatic self in the fourth getting the runner in the lane to put his team up 5, with 2 minutes play.

Brooklyn would close the gap to 2, but Dallas could ice it in the final seconds, they call Dirk Nowitzki’s number, but he airballs it. The German just 2-of-12 from the field, that left the Nets with a chance to tie, and they do thanks to Joe Johnson. 91-91 and we are heading to overtime.

In the extra frame, it’s a two-man game between Johnson and Darren Williams and that leads to D-Will canning the triple. Nets up 8.

But Ellis would cut the margin with a three of his own. 105-104 with only less than six seconds to play. 32 for Ellis on the night, and Kidd is worried on the bench.

After Dallas made a couple free throws to make it a 3-point game, Ellis had one last chance to even things, but he is off the mark. Brooklyn holds on for a 107-104 overtime win.
