No nation will be under more pressure than the hosts -- Brazil. And that means no player could be under more scrutiny than 22-year-old Neymar, who is trying to bring another world title back to his country. But he is not only playing for Brazil, but also his hometown.

Neymar was born in Mogi das Cruzes in Sao Paulo state 22 years ago. He then moved to this neighborhood in Sao Vicente when he was 4 years old.

It's on this miniature indoor football pitch that Neymar, the Brazilian national team's superstar striker, first played the game as a child. Here in Sao Vicente near Sao Paulo, many young people look at Neymar as a role model.

"He plays very well. He is very skilled. I hope to play like him one day." Roberto Pon, Futsal player said.

Neymar was born in Mogi das Cruzes in Sao Paulo state 22 years ago. He then moved to this neighborhood in Sao Vicente when he was 4 years old. Born into a low-income family, Neymar and his parents lived at his grandmother's house for many years. In 2003, he moved to the nearby town of Santos where he joined the professional team. He played there until last year, when he was recruited by Spanish giants, Barcelona and was propelled to international fame. But it is in this Vila Belmira stadium that he left the most striking memories.

"His happiness when he had the ball made him different. And of course he already had impressive moves and technical skills." Jose Alexandre Cardoso, Former Santos Futsal coach said.

Despite his departure for Spain, Neymar didn't forget about his homeland where he continues to support the ever growing Evangelical Church.

"He liked to party but at church he behaved well, he was always listening, he was looking for and fearing God, he was serious when it came to God, he would bring many friends and often wear a headband with "Jesus" written on it." Nilton Gloria Lobato, Peniel Baptist Church pastor said.

The young prodigy also decided to share his success with his community by launching a project for underprivileged children near Santos. 2,500 kids will soon have access to sports fields, medical care and tutoring for school.

"It's about inspiring young people to make their dream come true, to grow their talents, to seek knowledge in order to leave behind the reality in which they live." Jose Benicio Da Silva Santos, Neymar's uncle said.

With his 40-million dollar salary, Neymar is now the world's third highest paid player. But despite his dazzling career, his recent performance at Barcelona has received some poor reviews. The "crack," as he is nicknamed in Brazil, hopes to make up for it during the World Cup.
