Soldiers in Xinjiang saved a severely injured snow leopard, an endangered species in China, that became trapped in spill way. Soldiers used a fishing net to corral the leopard which was taken for treatment at a veterinarian clinic.

Snow leopard becomes video star in Sichuan

Wildlife experts in Sichuan also had an encounter with a snow leopard; albeit this from a safe distance. Staff at the nature reserve had set up a hidden video camera on mountain trail and they were surprised to see one of the big cats walk right up to it, give it a sniff before trudging away. Experts say it was the first video in years to capture daytime images of a snow leopard in its natural habitat.
