Two referendums held in two eastern regions of Ukraine in Donestsk and Luhansk. An organizer of the referendum in Luhansk says some 96 percent of voters there have voted in favor of self-rule for the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic.

The head of the Luhansk People's Republic's electoral commission, Alexandr Malyhin told a press conference that some 3.8 percent of voters in the referendum backed staying with Ukraine. The turnout for the referendum was 75 percent.

According to referendum organizers in neighboring Donetsk, 89.07 percent of voters backed their region's call for self-rule.
