X-Men fans packed the Jacob Javits Center in New York for the super-sized premiere of "X-Men: Days of Future Past", as the film's stars rewarded them with autographs and selfies.

"I mean, they are everything. I wouldn't have a job if it weren't for my fans. And also, I've really got like - not to brag - the best fans in the entire world," Lawrence said.

Actor Patrick Stewart spoke glowingly about the film, who comes back as Professor Xavier.

"I love it, it's great. I don't think you can be a part of too many franchises," he said.

The movie sees Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, an ageless mutant thanks to his innate healing factor, go back from a harsh future to the past in hopes of changing the timeline for a better future.

Directed by Bryan Singer, who also helmed the first two movies in the original trilogy, brings back characters from the previous franchise like Storm, Beast and the young Professor Xavier played by James McAvoy who acts alongside Stewart.

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing also appeared on the red carpet. In the new franchise, she plays Blink.

The film hits U.S. theatres on May 23.
