27 dead, millions affected by south China rain

Rainstorms and flooding have left 27 dead and 2 missing in 6 provinces and autonomous regions in South China. More than 3.4 million people have been affected.

According to the National Commission for Disaster Reduction, 240,000 people from Fujian, Guangdong, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Chongqing have been forced to evacuate, and the rain has caused direct economic losses of 3.6 billion RMB. More than 9,000 houses have collapsed.
