Britain's Queen Elizabeth the Second and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh have visited the set of the US TV series Game of Thrones on Tuesday. |
The royal couple arrive at east Belfast to visit the Paint Hall Studios in the city's regenerated docklands, where part of the hit series is filmed.
"Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss lead a tour through the sets for the Red Keep and the Throne Room.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are shown costumes and props from the set, before greeting members of the cast including Kit Harington, Maisie Williams and Lena Headey.
The Queen is then shown The Iron Throne used in the show, before being presented with a miniature replica. But unlike many visitors to Belfast's Titanic Studios, the monarch declines to take a seat on the throne created for the ruler of the mythical Seven Kingdoms.
Game of Thrones is estimated to be the biggest TV production in Europe, and the series production has had a significantly positive impact on the Northern Irish economy. Series 4 of Game of Thrones wrapped up last week.
