Heavy rainfall has triggered floods in central China's Hunan Province, hitting the famous ancient town of Fenghuang. Waters in the nearby Tuojiang River rose by almost one meter above warning level, causing severe flooding and power outages.
More than 50,000 residents and tourists were evacuated from the town, and several scenic spots were closed. Other counties in Hunan have also been affected. No casualties have been reported so far. Experts predict that the stormy weather is likely to continue until early Wednesday morning.
