The rain did not keep visitors away on the fair's last day. Many were avid readers who went to the fair to buy the books they love, and they were willing to ask the publishers some difficult questions.
"Readers in Shanghai have a very high level of literacy. They can pose some tough questions when talking with us. That is also helpful for our future publications," said Cui Junyou, China Publishing Group.
More than 500 publishers had 150,000 titles on sale this year. And the fair also put on nearly 700 reading events, including lectures by famous writers.
Organizers say that they wanted the fair to help get people to read more, and they say they will continue to hold weekend reading events around Shanghai.
