Two world records were broken in two different parts of the world on Sunday. As you're about to see, while the first was one man's feat of strength and dexterity, the second required planning and team work.
On Sunday, Struempfel was up against just one competitor and they had to carry as many full mugs as possible over a distance of 40 metres. Cheered on by the crowds inside the beer festival tent, Struempfel's opponent managed 26 mugs, each weighing around 2.3 kilograms. But Struempfel went one better with 27. |
For many people, carrying two traditional one-litre German mugs of beer can be a challenge. But on Sunday a German man broke the world record, carrying 27 full mugs.
"I have worked here in the beer tent for the past 17 years, so I have had lots of training in carrying beer mugs. However, my personal best is 26 mugs at once, which is more than 60 kilograms," WR holder in beer mug carrying Oliver Struempfel said.

Thousands of hungry residents looked on as the Guinness official supervised the weighing of the tacos, which came in at almost 900 kilograms.
"The largest clay pot in the world and largest Taco de Plaza whichn is a plate from the Valle de Toluca which, in our area, is usually eaten on Mondays," tourism director Karina Montes De Oca said.
