Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe to attend the 14th meeting of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. He will attend the two day summit on Thursday and Friday and then begin a state visit to Tajikistan.

During the summit, leaders will sign and issue the Dushanbe Declaration, approve a series of documents on the organization's expansion and pass a resolution on the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. During the 2013 Bishkek summit, President Xi advocated the building of a "New Silk Road" between member states to boost trade and cultural exchanges. The leaders are expected to witness the signing of the agreement at this summit.
President Xi is scheduled to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin around 4 pm Thursday local time. Leaders of China, Russia and Mongolia are expected to hold a trilateral meeting one hour later. After the summit, President Xi will pay state visits to Tajikistan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and India.
