HBO's Original Series "Boardwalk Empire" has been top-rated all over the world for the past five years. Featuring Emmy-winning writer of "The Sopranos" Terence Winter, the drama tells the life of gangster Nucky Thompson at the dawn of Prohibition. Now with the new season on, we hear more from one of the cast members, actor Vincent Piazza.

Pictures shows Vincent Piazza.

"Boardwalk Empire" is in its fifth and final season. Actor Vincent Piazza, who plays mobster Lucky Luciano, describes a keepsake he's had since the beginning of the show.

"I kept my cigarette lighter because it was with me from the pilot and it took me about a year to not burn myself whenever I clicked it because it's an old lighter and you've got to flick it and try and look cool like, 'I've used this lighter all my life since I was 4 when I started smoking' you know, that kind of a thing so I would - it took me awhile to do it so we have this relationship the lighter and I and it's been with me the whole way. Always in my pocket or in the scene so yeah. It's my little buddy," Piazza said.

"Boardwalk Empire" began at the start of Prohibition in 1920. Season five takes place in 1931, two years before the end of Prohibition.

Piazza says Luciano has evolved since the series premiere.

"Lucky Luciano is... He's grown. He's taken his lumps and now he's very focused on trying to create a business more so than ever," Piazza said.

The show has been praised for not only its writing, but also its costumes and cinematography.

"There was actually a moment last season when I was sitting back in the chair, we were like in the 12th hour of the day or something and I'm just staring at the monitor and they were doing playback of the scene and I looked and was like, 'We're in a moving oil painting' like it is just so like rich in color and texture it was really special," Piazza said.

The show also stars Steve Buscemi and Gretchen Mol. It airs on HBO at 9 p.m. Eastern on Sundays.
