The message is much more serious over in the US, where U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and actor Leonardo DiCaprio are calling on governments and civil society to work together to combat global warming. At a Saturday news conference at the United Nations, Ban said he's counting on DiCaprio's "leadership and vision" to bring international attention to the effects of rapid climate change.
DiCaprio, who was recently named the U.N.'s Messenger of Peace, is a long-time environmentalist and has launched a foundation on ecological issues. He stressed the importance of the massive international marches against climate change scheduled for Sunday.
The march set for New York City, dubbed the People's Climate March, is expected to attract a number of notable A-list actors, such as Evangeline Lilly and Mark Ruffalo.
