Down this icy crevice is an igloo hotel. It's one of six igloo village hotels in Europe, where guests pay over 200 euros to stay in a room made entirely of snow and ice.

For something on the opposite end of the thermometer, guests in Abu Dhabi can nestle between two large sand dunes in the Empty Quarter, or Rub al Khali as it is known in the United Arab Emirates.

The architectural style is reminiscent of the forts used by ancient settlers in the region. The materials are also similar and help to insulate against the heat. The towers allow available breeze to enter and keep the rooms cool, like natural air conditioning.

Or if you fancy an adventure while you're visiting the UAE, this hotel is bringing the thrills of the Serengeti to your doorstep. With its vast plains dotted with gazelles, blackbuck, ostriches and giraffes, it looks like a safari park - but this is Arabia not Africa.

Until recently a remote area of Northern Oman was only accessible by boat. This has meant that few tourists have made it to this part of Oman. But those arriving at the Sixth Senses Zighy Bay have found a new way to get there - by paragliding.

Glamorous camping -- or "glamping" -- is all the rage in South Korea. Sites offering all the luxuries of a hotel, with the unique outdoor vibe of a camping trip, are springing up around South Korea and locals say they're a hit. Yangpyeong Glamping and Caravan is a recommended choice.

Keeping with the great outdoors, this hotel in Germany is offering its guests the opportunity to stay in a treehouse for 180 euro per night.

Another eco-hotel, this time in the middle of the Ecuadorian rainforest, not only offers visitors a chance to escape city life, the Mashpi Lodge is also a center for wildlife research. Humans aren't the only guests here - they have to share their space with 32 species of hummingbirds. But nestled amid this stunning scenery, guests can see the birds and nature from their beds and the bathrooms.
