The US ambassador to South Korea, Mark Lippert, has been injured by an attacker in a public forum in Seoul. He's now in stable condition after being treated in hospital.

The White House has strongly condemned the act. And President Barack Obama called Lippert to wish him a quick recovery.
The suspected assailant has been identified as 55-year-old Kim Ki-jong. He slashed Lippert's cheek and wrist with a razor blade while the ambassador was giving a breakfast speech. Yonhap News reports Kim was shouting anti-war slogans.
After his arrest, he said he was protesting the ongoing military drills between the US and South Korea. In July 2010, Kim received a suspended two-year prison term for throwing a piece of concrete at the Japanese ambassador.
