Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also wrote on a banner, saying " Dear Papa, hope you get better." The prime minister didn't speak to the public, but thanked them for their support.
"I am here on behalf of my husband and my family to send my best wishes to Lee Kuan Yew and his family. He has devoted his life to Singapore for decades. If there was no Lee Kuan Yew, there'd be no Singapore. I really thank him," he said.
"We watched the news. He is terribly ill. The Prime Minister's Office also said in the latest press release his condition has worsened. I wish him good health. His bilingual education policy has been a benefit for our kids," said a local resident.
