We are just a day away the start of the figure skating world championships. Shanghai is the host, and many Chinese skaters hope skating on home ice will lead to success and that includes the team of Pang Qing and Tong Jian.

The pairs team is one of three China will have in the competition, but the veterans will be the fan favourites, as this is their final event. The duo deciding against retiring following last year's Olympics, in an effort to finish their careers at home.
Another pair Peng Cheng and Zhang Hao will be among the favourites. They won gold at the China Cup last year in this same venue, and will try to grab another win in Shanghai.
Young pair Sui Wenjing and Han Cong and potential future star Li Zi'jun are also ready for the competition.
Canadian pair Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford added a throw quad Salchow this season, making for the most technically difficult long program in the world. They go in as the favourites in pairs competition.
