Pakistan's military returns the bodies of the Philippines and Norwegian ambassadors to Islamabad on Saturday, a day after they were killed in a helicopter crash in the country's northern mountains.

Pakistani servicemen formed a guard of honour to receive the coffins. Seven people, including the wives of the Malaysian and Indonesian envoys, lost their lives when the helicopter carrying the diplomats to inspect a tourism project crashed into a school.

The Pakistani Taliban issued a statement claiming they shot down the helicopter with an anti-aircraft missile. The government later dismissed the statement as an opportunistic attempt to take responsibility for such a high-profile incident. The government claims that the crash was caused by an engine failure. Pakistan declared Saturday a day of national mourning.
