Mount Qomolangma was hit hard by the twin earthquakes in the country. The climbing season has now officially been cancelled and for the first time in 41 years no one will climb the world's highest peak for the rest of the year. This means a number of sherpas and businesses in the region will be without what is their only source of income.

Tourism in Mt. Qomolangma hit hard

This is the roof of the world. A magnificent white tower standing proud as the highest point on earth, Luring tourists from all corners of the world to try to conquer it.

This is pemba's hotel, this time of the year they are usually busy serving tourists. But now, this area is filled with people who have lost their homes, looking for temporary shelters. Instead of businesses... empty streets

This deadly landslide, triggered by the devastating earthquakes, have killed over 9000 people in Nepal and took away the livelihood of those who have survived it.

For Sherpas like Pemba, working on Everest provides some of the highest-paying jobs in the impoverished country. He agrees to take us to his village along the way, pockets of desperations are dotting the stunning sceneries.

Every single family here have lost their houses and are now living in tents. And because everyone here depend on tourism generations of families are left without income.

This is karsang, he is pemba's nephew.. he's been a guide since he was 14, now along with their extended family are living in this tent

These people who were once the backbone of the country's economy have now become one of the most vulnerable ones.

As the remoteness of their location, many of villages like this have received very little or no aid. And they are left with little else but their faith and hope that the can work again to rebuild their shattered lives.
