Health authorities say the condition of a Middle East respiratory syndrome patient from South Korea is deteriorating.
The health department in southern China's Guangdong province has dispatched a third group of experts to the hospital in the city of Huizhou where the South Korean patient is quarantined. The teams are monitoring the victim's condition, although MERS virus has no known cure.
Guangdong province, with a population of more than 100 million, is continuing its efforts to trace people who had close contact with the South Korean man. The patient flew to Hong Kong and took a bus north into Guangdong. As of Sunday, the number of people in Guangdong who had close contact with the patient stood at 77. Among them, 64 have been quarantined. None of the quarantined individuals have yet shown symptoms of the virus.
