A total of 297 pairs of Ming Dynasty porcelain wares are being exhibited at Beijing's Palace Museum.
Each pair consists of one piece from the Palace museum collection, while the other is a repaired piece unearthed from the imperial kiln in Jingdezhen, a famous porcelain making center in China. All the pieces were produced at the kiln nearly 500 years ago.

According to archaeologists, the imperial kiln in Jingdezhen produced porcelain wares only for the emperors in the Ming Dynasty and only near-perfect items could enter the royal palace. Even slightly flawed porcelain was broken into pieces and buried.
The show is one of the exhibitions this year to mark the 90th anniversary of the Palace Museum's establishment in the Forbidden City. It runs through Sept 3rd.
