Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun has arrived at the scene of the massive explosions in Tianjin last night to direct rescue operations and emergency response.

Beijing dispatched medical experts to the scene overnight to guide and coordinate the rescue work.

The National Health and Family Planning Commission has sent blood supplies to assist the operations.

Tianjin City Mayor Huang Xingguo stressed that the rescue work will focus on controlling the scene to avoid secondary accidents; to search, rescue and aid the injured; and to find out the cause as soon as possible.
