Chinese President Xi Jinping has attended a China-US business roundtable in Seattle. Fifteen chief executives of prominent US companies, and the same number from China, were invited to the event Wednesday.

In his speech, Xi emphasized that the Chinese and US economies are highly complementary and there is great cooperation potential between the two. He welcomed large US companies to establish regional headquarters in China and encouraged small and medium-sized companies to develop business in China.
Xi also sought to assure businesses of China's economy, and said although it is slowing down, the positive development trend will continue and the economy can maintain a medium-to-high speed of growth. He pointed out that China's 7 percent growth in the first half of the year contributed to 30 percent of global economic growth.
Xi also said China will push forward the optimization and upgrade of industrial structure, innovation-driven development and further expand opening up.
