An all-singing, all-dancing, and all-female troupe from the DPRK will come to Beijing this weekend. They're called "the Moranbong Band", hand-picked by leader Kim Jong Un himself, and heralded by rave state-media reviews! Beijing audiences will also get to hear the 100-strong "State Merited Chorus" with their repertoire of revolutionary songs.

The two renowned music groups are on their way to Beijing's National Center for the Performing Arts after a previous stop in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
Selected by DPRK leader Kim Jong Un himself in 2012, the all-female "Moranbong Band" are famous for their energetic stage presence.
They sing, they dance, they bring live band performance, and they have been hailed for their instrumental virtuosity. They are also famed for blending traditional Korean songs with themes from Western popular culture, such as Disney characters or "Rocky".
Also on their way to Beijing are the DPRK's hundred-strong "State Merited Chorus", complete with a full orchestra.
This is not the first time these two troupes have co-headlined a show. Both performed in Pyongyang on the 11th of October this year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Their official visit to China will contribute to "deepening friendship" and cultural exchange between the two countries.
