With the Spring Festival travel rush around the corner, the country's rail carrier China Railway Corporation has updated its service planning diagram. It announced on Sunday it had added over 200 and 80 pairs of passenger trains nationwide.

According to the new diagram, the CRC now operates over 3,000 and 100 pairs of passenger trains across the country, with nearly 2,000 pairs being bullet trains.

The new services come after China over-fulfilled its 2015 railway construction targets as part of government efforts to improve transport infrastructure and stabilize growth.

Meanwhile, the list of prohibited items on trains has also been updated to include edged tools such as kitchen knives and axes, as well as and bows and crossbows to the list. Live animals including pets are also banned, but licensed guide dogs are allowed onboard.
