During the CPPCC press conference, spokesman Wang Guoqing answered questions on air quality during the press conference. He said China will take more measures to fight against air pollution and is prepared for lasting efforts on smog control. He called for patience during the protracted war.
"China has done a lot to curb smog but needs to do more. I think air pollution is a development problem in essence, so we say that pollution control needs an iron hand. It is a pressing task that also requires patience and rationality. Pollution is not formed in a day so treatment cannot be effective at once," Wang said.
"To fight against smog is a protracted war. It's also a people's war. Efforts need to made on three aspects: governments implementing five development concepts of innovation, coordination, greenness, openness, and sharing; enterprises operating with an environmentally-friendly production model; and the public promoting a low-carbon lifestyle."
