China's burgeoning online live broadcasting business is facing a new round of regulatory policy.
According to Ministry of Culture, 25 live broadcasting platforms, including the popular douyu.com and yy.com, have been blacklisted for containing violent or obscene content.
The ministry said it had instructed local law enforcement agencies to investigate the cases and hand out punishment. The websites are also accused of encouraging viewers to break the law and challenging accepted moral values.
The ministry said all Internet-based service providers must bear legal responsibility for their content, and violators will be punished.
